An Interesting Start

Welcome back everyone as we're getting nearer to the start of our summer line of shows things are looking good. As of right now we don't have a definate start date but the gears are in motion and things will get going soon.

Speakeasy

Now this isn't how it comes out as. This isn't a place to go an get bootleg(even though we will be haveing microbrews exclusivly no commerical spirits). What the speakeasy concept is basement shows that don't have the extreme visual pleasures that one would see at an outdoor venue. There is no set place for this it can happen anywhere. These are generaly speaking invite only and are used for more or less as a promotional event or a chance for us to get some video or photographs. The settings for this are laid back and chill. They also provide time for bands to get to know thier fan base alittle more.

Review of the Jabooda Speakeasy Show

It took a little bit of time for things to get underway but once the tunes started the funk did not stop. The band played a couple of new songs along with some classics to get audinces amped up for the strange creek music festival in Greenfield MA. The first song played was a cover of without love that led into an epic jam midway through that led into nova. The crowd went wild when the band went into shake down street, the majority of the night was spent with improve jams that would have made James Brown proud. Everything is looking prime for their late night preformace at the Mill St. Cabin that will also feature Gutta and Weight of gravity.

Art Swap

The annual Art Swap is under way now. This a chance for artists to share their pictures, talk to other artists, and get some groovy prints at the same time. When more submissions are recived a showing will take place with various pieces being actioned off to charity. Keep an eye on the Floating Word for more deatails on this and many other showings.

We are still working out technical difficulties, as well as in the process of improving the writing staff we will be providing infoe on new and upcoming bands very shortly

The Start of the Word

Greetings and welcome to all,

After lots of planning and contemplating we have finally got the blog up and running. The function of this blog is to give a better look into the float on it community as well as to keep you informed on the latest news in your local music and art scenes. We will also be posting stories from people wide and abroad who have been on, going on, or never left tour along with helpful advice for those of you thinking about it.

A Look Into the Wooded Lot

The Wooded lot is one of the event venues that will be used during the out door season. It is Located in Wales near the Palmer border. Set off deep into the woods this is probably the most scheduled of the venues. Its primarily used for multiple day events such as festivals and camp outs. It will also host some art showings and auctions as well. As of right now we have nothing set yet but will soon be posting more.

The Wicker Man

The majority of our events include a bonfire of some kind but building the normal tepee to start it is a little bit too cliche. So we build a straw man usually between 3-5 feet in height and place an "interesting" picture on them(some of the ones we've used in the past are Michael Jackson, George Bush, and Henry Anslinger). This Practice has become kind of staple of what goes on. However by all means it is no where near as impressive as the Burning Man festival held out in Nevada.
